Celeb Homes

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher have put their recently renovated 2,806-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath midcentury modern home in the Hollywood Hills on the market for $2.9 million. With breathtaking canyon and mountain views, stunning 22-foot beamed ceilings, a multilevel deck, a professional kitchen, an outdoor gym, and a lagoon-style pool with a spa and fire pit, the house is absolutely fantastic. I can't imagine why the couple would want to let it go! It certainly has enough room for little Olive and the two of them. Then again, Paramount offered Cohen $20 million to shoot his next film, so the $3 million pad is a little out of their price range, if you know what I mean.
In any case, I'm really impressed with their furniture and décor. They've chosen some midcentury pieces that pay tribute to the home's architecture, but also integrated some more contemporary, large-scale pieces that bring it up to date. I tend to gravitate towards brighter hues and more statement-making pieces, but their subdued palette and understated furnishings give the house a very serene feel. Check out the photos and tell me what you think!

I may not live like the stars, but I can get a sneak peek at how they do. If you put your voyeur glasses on every now and then to peruse their celebrity homes, you're not alone. Test your Hollywood knowledge to see if you know who lives where on my fun celebrity Casa quiz!
Question 1 of 10Which "friend" lived here? Jennifer Aniston Matthew Perry Courteney Cox-Arquette
Sheryl Crow is a city girl with country style, which makes for a genius design dichotomy in her New York City loft. Ahead of her upcoming album 100 Miles From Memphis, Sheryl Crow shares the design inspiration behind her NoHo digs with Elle.
Though she still spends most of her time in Tennessee, where she recently put her farm on the market, Crow has kept this place in the city since 1998. She's outfitted it with salvaged signs and other goodies collected from junk shops and yard sales over the years. I love the mix of urban, industrial design and vintage flair. I'm particularly fond of the kitchen, which is a far cry from the aquarium-outfitted eating area in her Tennessee home.
Her dishware is a hodgepodge of mismatched plates and Starbucks coffee mugs; and she still uses a circa-1950s O’Keefe & Merritt stove that she bought for her first apartment in St. Louis, back when she was a schoolteacher. "It goes wherever I go," she says, patting it fondly. "It’s built like a Buick."

One of America's sweethearts, Jennie Garth stole many a heart as 90210's Kelly Taylor. The cool girl on the block now has a vampy man, Peter Facinelli (who made our PopSugar 100); their three belles, Luca, Lola, and Fiona; and a white picket fence in the celebrity-ridden neighborhood of Toluca Lake, CA.
For whatever the reason, the famous fam has decided to move on and is currently listing their six bedroom home for a cool $5.9 million.
While I quite like the numbers attached to the square footage and the pool in the backyard, I'm not in love with the style of the home. Having said that, I can't imagine it's easy to combine the tastes of a Beverly Hills gal and a blood-sucking doctor.

That fishy smell in Sheryl Crow's kitchen may not be coming from the skillet. The crooning mama just put her Tennessee home on the market, which allowed us a sneak peek into her country digs. The most surprising design element in her home is the aquarium in her kitchen island. A unique place to feature the sea creatures, and I'm betting her main man Wyatt thinks the tank is quite groovy. Does it make you happy or do you think a change will do her good?

Her long legs, adorable children, and fruitful career are all reasons to envy Uma Thurman. But what's coloring me green with envy are her recently listed Greenwich Village digs.
While I can't dole out the whopping $14.2 million to get the NYC home, I can take note of a few of her décor tricks. The one that catches my eyes most is her use of drapes to section off her foyer from her living area. I quite like the idea of being able to seal off the room completely without the use of doors. The voluminous curtains and tiebacks breathe romantic style and elegance into a tranquil setting. Now if only I could just live there . . .

Sheryl Crow has put her 10,264-square-foot, seven-bedroom, five-bath home in College Grove, TN, on the market for a whopping $7.5 million. Dubbed "Cross Creek Farm," the property boasts a three-bedroom guest house, a 14-stall barn, an indoor riding area, a media room, a music studio, and private nanny quarters on 5.5 acres of land. It also has a "solar farm," which reduces electricity costs by 42 percent.
The place is so expansive that not all the rooms seem to be furnished, and many rooms are pretty blandly decorated. It's a prime case of "bigger is not always better." But, Sheryl does have a few very cool rooms that have a vintage rock 'n' roll/ country vibe. I'm particularly digging this sitting room with the peg leg cart coffee table. And my favorite thing? One of the listing photos features this adorable "Sometimes You Just Gotta Crow" embroidery! Check out dozens of photos when you read more.

I think I can die now. After years of gawking at celebrity homes, I've found the chosen one. Uma Thurman has put her seven-bedroom, six-and-one-half bath mansion in Greenwich Village's "Gold Coast" area on the market for a cool $14.2 million - and it's worth every penny of its $39,330 annual property tax. The pre-war townhouse measures in at only 25 feet wide, but with five stories it has plenty of footage for a media room, guest suite, dining room, parlor, master bedroom, two sitting room, three bedrooms, a gym, and a rooftop deck. Oh! And don't forget about the patio, garden, terrace, and balcony in the rear!
Not only is the layout fantastic and ideal for entertaining, but it's absolutely gorgeous. With stunning historical architectural details that are a rare sight these days, the house would make any old piece of furniture look fabulous. But Uma's outfitted it in picture-perfect (see above) décor that's cozy, neutral, and well-traveled. Her mix of antiques, slipcovered seating, and a wonderful art collection give the space a welcoming feel and ensure there's plenty to gaze at. I'm intrigued by her upright piano, and I love how she's used a music stand as an easel for artwork. Take a look at more photos of the space below. I'm going to go work on coming up with $14 million.

Queen Latifah and her longtime friend and personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins have purchased a 2,026-square-foot, three-bedroom, 2.5-bath Hollywood Hills home from actor Henry Simmons, who played Queen's boyfriend in the 2004 film Taxi, for $1.34 million. The Mediterranean-style home is gated, with lush, tropical landscaping. It has an open floor plan with French doors, a glass tiled fireplace, high ceilings, hardwood floors, and Mexican tiling. It also boasts a private patio, outdoor jacuzzi, and a gym - a must for Jenkins, the founder and president of the Hollywood Trainer fitness company. I'm pretty underwhelmed with Simmons's décor choices; I don't usually go for so many warm color choices. But I have faith that these ladies will give it a face-lift! Touring celebrity homes, I've noticed a few trends that stars tend to gravitate toward. For instance, check out all the celebrities who have gone wild for zebra rugs. So I thought I'd ask an expert about what it takes to design a home for rich and famous. Los Angeles-based interior design firm and showroom Interior Illusions - whose retail clients have included Cameron Diaz, Megan Fox, and Jamie Foxx - supplied me a must-have list for creating a shockingly stylish celebrity home. Of course, it helps to start with a modern manse in the Hollywood Hills, but there are a few essential accessories and furnishings you'll need to fill it with first. Check out all the must haves and hear why celebs love them!

Now I ain't sayin' I'm a gold digger, but I'd sure love to get my hands on Kanye West's LA pad. In case you missed it, the sometimes notorious musician listed his Hollywood Hills home for a mere $4 million buckaroos. That price tag is just a wee steep for my liking, but I could try to copy the look with a few similar accents. Frank Gehry's Wiggle chair, the faux furry throw, and the Louis Vuitton trunk have me drooling. And as a child of the '80s, I'm quite fond of (and surprised by!) the Jetsons figurines and artwork that the sublime rapper has displayed throughout his home. Check out all of the other fab décor that you can have, too!

The historic Greek Revival townhouse in Brooklyn Heights where Truman Capote penned Breakfast at Tiffany's has been put on the market for $18 million, the first time in 70 years. The 11-bedroom, 7.5-bath, five-story home was built in 1939, and features a three-story elliptical mahogany staircase with a rosette oculus window at the top. It boasts 12-foot ceilings, interior period details, a 40-foot columned Charleston porch in the rear, a garden, a parlor with floor-to-ceiling Jeffersonian pocket windows and French doors, a Federal-style columned veranda, 11 fireplaces, a private gated driveway, an artist's studio, and a wine cellar. In other words, it's a fantastic historic home that pretty much can't be beat! Better yet, it's only a few blocks away from the Brooklyn Bridge, just a few minutes from Manhattan. But if you're anything like Capote, you won't mind living in the outer borough: in A House on the Heights, which Capote wrote about his life living at this address, he famously scribed, "I live in Brooklyn. By choice. Those ignorant of its allures are entitled to wonder why." Tour the rest of the photos of this fabulous domicile and you'll have your bags packed.
Kanye West may have won 14 Grammys, but his artistic talents don't stop in the recording studio. The hip-hop star also studied fine art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and is an interior design ace. The proof is in the pudding of his 4,214-square-foot, three-bedroom, 3.5-bath modern home in Hollywood Hills, which he's just listed on the market for $4 million.I gave you a tour of his sleek West Coast digs many moons ago back in '07, and since then he's continued to amass a very impressive collection of contemporary paintings and luxe modern furnishings. The house and much of his pop art was actually the setting for West's animated video for his song Heartless - look out for his Andy Warhol Campbell's soup cans and Jetsons paintings (see below). The house, designed by a world-renowned Italian architect, masters minimalism with neutral finishes, which set the stage for West's eye-catching artwork. It boasts brilliant lighting schemes, built-in computer systems, security cameras throughout, a theater, and sprawling city views from every room.
Penelope Cruz has put her 3,334-square-foot, three-bedroom, 3.5-bath Los Angeles home on the market for $3.7 million. The "Balinese Modern" one-story home has ornately carved doors which open to an entry courtyard with a fountain. In the rear, walls of French doors open to a pool and patio with magnificent city views. Inside, the house has an expansive open floorplan with skylights and gorgeous natural light throughout. It's a gorgeous and unique home, which seems like a wonderfully soothing little hideaway. But the truth is, Ms. Cruz probably won't miss it much; it was reportedly just a crash pad for Penelope when she came to town, and she's been renting it for $14,500/month for the last two years. That explains why the interiors look quite spare . . . I'd imagine a lady as elegant as Penelope would have many more chic furnishings than you see here.

Interior designer Kelly Wearstler and her hotelier husband Brad Korzen have put their 6,000-square-foot, six-bedroom, 4.5-bath Malibu mansion on the market for a whopping $21.9 million. Situated on an exclusive 72-foot stretch of Carbon Beach on the Pacific Coast Highway, the house was actually purchased from Janet Jackson for $8.5 million, and was used as a shared beach house with three other families. Wearstler, of course, decorated the digs, and if you take a click through photos it's clear she was having a very beige moment. Over-the-top as her style may be, I usually find something to love about it. But I simply can't get behind this home - there's not a flash of color in any room in the house. Cream, yes. Tan, yes. Taupe, yes. Gray, yes. But not one hue that's not nearly completely desaturated!
The digs do have exceptional bones, though. There are exquisite finishes throughout, including Honey Onyx, Calcutta Gold and Cippolino stone, and hardwood floors. A bathroom skylight is another favorite feature, too. And the stairs! Chunky and graphic and oh so cool. Take a look and tell me what you think!
